Unbeatable

Having won the league the previous week, this game should of had no significance, but it did!
If Broad Plain 2nds were to beat Bristol Saracens, then they would be unbeaten in the league all season, only dropping points to Kingswood, with whom they drew. The team rolled up at Cribbs Causeway with an air of optimism in the squad.but it wouldn't last! Saracens were calling for uncontested scrums because of inexperienced front row.
The game kicked off with the home side declaring their intent with strong tackling and spoiling of the play at every breakdown, which meant Plain could not get into their stride, causing them to make to many errors. These unusual mistakes from a team who have been so consistent throughout the season resulted in Sarries taking a shock 12-nil lead, much to Plains surprise. But influential flanker Tony Andres seemed to kick start a revival, scoring a try which was converted by scrum half Paul Morgan. With half time looming,Plain scored again through outstanding no8 Wayne Morgan, who broke from the back of a static scrum to charge over for an unconverted try to make the scores level, going into the break.
The second half saw the visitors on top and starting to take control, with forwards and backs combining well together. If it were not for the stubborn Sarries defence,Plain could have scored at least another couple of tries. With the clock ticking and with both sides trying to find a breakthrough,it would be the home side who scored next out wide for 5 points. This was strange territory for the Bemmy boys side.they had not been in a game where they had been behind with 15 minutes to go! But one of the reasons why Broad Plain 2nd team were Champions is because of their resilience, hard work, their ability to adapt and their all round character. So it was only a matter of time until they scored, with winger Josh Jobbins scoring a beautiful, well worked try.conversion missed.
As the game was nearing it's conclusion,it looked like Plain would end the season with a hard fought, but disappointing draw! Would they rue all those missed chances? Not likely. It must have been 78 minutes played and with Plains forwards camped in their rivals 22,it would be a forwards swan song which would seal victory. They set up a maul 22 metres out and proceeded to trundle their way to the line, with a formation reminiscent of the Red Arrows, all precisionly placed and moving at mack 3. From this ,the Champions scored a 5 pointer, with Prop James Grant claiming the try. From the kick off,the ball went out of play and the ref blew for full time,to hand victory to the Invincibles!
