13 ,Lucky for some.

The battle bus pulled up at St Mary's Old boys with only 14 players because of cry off's that morning,so things looked bleak!
Everyone was changed and out on the pitch in good time for a decent warm up.
The game kicked off with 14 players apiece, and to everyone's credit you wouldn't have known,as both teams started with pace and flare.
It was a shame that it would have to be uncontested scrums because Mary's didn't have a recognised front row,and so it wouldn't give powerhouse props Luke Fussell and Kev Chappell a chance to show their strength at scrum time.
Against the run of play it was Mary's who scored first out wide by their young winger, which was converted to them in front.
Not long after, influential centre Joe Hunt had to go off due to injury ?,which reduced Plain down to 13 against 14.?
Although they had a man advantage,it was Plain who scored next, with some strong running from flanker Adam Pinder who made some good ground and found support in no8 Tony Andres, who went over for a try, which was then converted by young Fly Halve Ryley Murtagh who along with outstanding Scrum Halve Francesco Andres have been a revelation for the 2nds this season. The game continued with Plain in the ascendancy , turning defence into attack with some bone crunching tackles by Second Row Billy Carter, who was playing his first game for the club, and Winger/Centre Callum Monk.
From the resulting solid defence,Plain scored two tries with Pinder and Francesco Andres both crossing the white wash ,with Murtagh only slotting one over to put Plain 19-7 up . With ten minutes to go until half time,Mary's scored twice, one of which was an interception from a wayward pass that wasn't converted to take the score to 19-19 going into half time.
The second half got under way with the home side receiving from the restart, but quick footed Zac Slocombe ,who was playing out of position in the back row from Scrum Halve, raced to pluck the ball from the air like a leaping salmon on it's way up stream to spawn. He gathered the ball, then passed to his Captain Robin Tremlett, who after a couple of hand off's got tackled short of the line, only for veteran Tony Andres to appear and bundle over to score his second try to put the away side in the lead. Play continued at an exhausting rate of naughts,as both teams tried to get the upper hand and making errors in the process.Unfortunatley it was the Old Boys who scored next to put them two points ahead and with ten minutes to go it was squeaky bum time for the blue, maroon and golds?
As the clock ticked down,Broad Plain threw everything they had at Mary's and were rewarded for their reciliance and sustained pressure with a fantastic winning try by Fallback Jamie Borsay, who had received a sweet pass from Winger Dan Beamont, to race through a tired Saints defence to swan dive over the line and to give Broad Plain 2's a well deserved five point win.✌??.
A massive thanks to all who have played for the 2's this season.

UP THE PLAINERS.??
