Plain Sailing ⛵️

With two league games played and with two narrow loses,Broad Plain 2nds rocked up at Yate RFC knowing a win was paramount.
Plain were looking to avoid the last time these two sides met in the league, with Yate putting 70 points on them.
With Broad Plain 1st team game being a walkover, due to Cleve RFC unable to raise a side. Captain Robin Tremlett stuck with Colts and regular 2's players.
The game started with Yate kicking to Plain. The ball was caught by second rower,Pete Best who ran through the oncoming defenders with ease. The ball was tipped off to Hooker,James Smith, who in turn passed to fellow Front Rower,Jago Thomas to dive over for his first of 3 tries.
From the next kickoff was a carbon copy of the first, with young Flanker,Ollie-Wring-Nash,who like Best, managed to evade numerous tackles
Only to be brought down short of the line.luckily Flanker,Brad Alford supporting managed to recycle the ball for Scrum Half,Frank Andres to
Pass to Thomas to go over for his second try. To the visitors surprise,Yate never really put much resistance with Plain breaking tackles,Breaking the gain line and gliding past their opponents with all the finesse of the All Blacks ??.
Alex Palmer, playing at second row showed why he has been so crucial to Broad Plain, winning not just his own lineouts but stealing the home sides ball on several occasions. And with Joe Hunt(filling in at number 8) behind a formidable pack which included the talented Jordan Perkins at Prop it couldn't have gone any better! Also winning scrums against the head. Not to be out done by the forwards, the backs started to an onslaught which would rip Yate to shreds. Started by Fullback Phil Savage(who was celebrating his 60th Birthday ? ?) scoring along with Owen Summerhayes,Tom Henshaw,Luke Coles and Dean Hill contributed by the slick skills of fellow backs,Josh Coles,Kai Fudge,Jamie Cox.
The order of the day was discipline, encouragement, defence and free flowing rugby ?. Which is why we scored 84 unanswered points.
The forwards who dominated lineouts, scrums, close and open play battles, set the platform that allowed the backs to pull off their A,B and C moves with all the precision of a Lancaster Bomber.✈️
