The Plain boys were given a harsh lesson in tagging and organization on a sunny January morning in St John’s Lane. The visitors raced in to a 5 nil before our lads had even threatened their try line, mainly down to some excellent tagging, direct running, and the fact that Plain spent a lot of time bunched up together [probably best to leave it ‘til the end of the match to compare Xmas presents!]. Amos and Harvey managed to get on the score sheet but there was only ever one team in it.
Thankfully the boys restored some pride with a much better performance in the 2nd match. The running was positive [going forward!] and direct, with Theo and Sam showing blistering pace to cross twice each, and Joe, Jake and Dan also making it through a well organised defence to touch downs. Our defensive frailties were again exposed though, as the visitors came from behind to level the scores late on.
