First of all, a word about the opposition, St Mary's typified everything about junior rugby. A lovely and friendly bunch of coaches with a great set of players. All supporters (from both sides) we're fantastic, cheering good play from both teams and both games were refereed brilliantly. St Mary's were a credit to their club and we are looking forward to playing them at their ground in the return fixture.

On to the match, The first of the 2 games was a close run thing with the lead changing hands a few times. Broad Plain's fantastic direct running and great support play was in evidence once again. Everyone stood up to a great St Mary's team and really had to grind this one out. A good all round team performance with all the players continuing their development on the pitch.

Game 2 was a contrast from the first and probably a bit harsh on St Mary's as they only had 7 players and were seeming to tire a little. That said Broad Plain took their chances when they were on offer and played really well. They surged in to an early lead and never looked back. Ollie has had another fantastic game here, he is in a real purple patch at the moment and is playing really well.

The move of the match involved Troy and Silas, Troy broke through and played a fantastic pass out to Silas he hit the ball at speed and went over. Brilliant.

All that said, the stand out performance today and last week at training has been Dan. He really is coming along at a rate of knots. His ability to spot a gap down the wings is a real talent and he is really integrating in to the group well. Don't let his quiet nature fool you, as soon as he crosses the white line he has a great desire to play well and knows where the try line is.
